Case study: Power point slide bank flash drive

Brief

To provide a meeting support application that would allow slides being delivered at a conference tobe provided as a post-meeting giveaway, handed out on flash drives.

Approach

The core of this application is something Doublezero Solutions have delivered in the past; we have a software tool developed that allows us to re-purpose the application with any client’s branding and incorporate their slides. This means development time is shortened greatly and the slide sorter can be delivered quicker and at a lower cost.

The product provides a click-drag interface that allows users to assemble any slide from any presentation in the application into a new, bespoke presentation. The slides are held in a visible collection that can be reordered and slides added/removed. Once the bespoke collection is assembled, hitting the ‘create’ button will open all the selected slides in a new PowerPoint project that can be further edited if necessary.

The main focus of this software has been as a promotional piece as in the case of the Renagel version. It does have other applications; one client has used this as a sales tool for their teams out on the road to customise their presentations on-the-fly from a large bank of existing slides. Another use has been for presentation pitch support; it has been used on an internal network to allow users to compile pitch presentations from existing assets.

The finalised application is an .exe that can be delivered either on a CD-Rom or on a bootable flash drive. If the application is to be delivered internally it can also reside on a network share and be accessible to internal users. No installation is required; the application will run from an executable.

Outcome

The application was delivered successfully and the client was happy with the enhanced value the giveaway provided for their conference.
